Extraction begins with numbing the area thoroughly using local anesthesia so you won’t feel pain. For simple extractions of visible teeth, the dentist uses advanced instruments to gently loosen the tooth by rocking it back and forth, then removes it from the socket. Surgical extractions for broken teeth or impacted wisdom teeth require a small incision in your gum and possibly removing some bone or sectioning the tooth. The first two to three days involve the most discomfort, which gradually improves. Swelling is normal and peaks around day two. Most patients return to normal activities within several days. Following post-operative instructions carefully minimizes discomfort and promotes smooth healing.
Initial healing takes about one to two weeks, though complete bone filling takes several months. You’ll feel significant improvement within three to four days. Most people return to work the next day after simple extractions, though you might prefer taking a few days off after surgical extractions or wisdom teeth removal. Stick to soft foods for several days, gradually reintroducing regular diet as healing progresses. Avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours to prevent bleeding. The socket will gradually fill with new tissue and bone, though you’ll notice the area feels normal much sooner. Bite firmly on gauze for 30 to 45 minutes to help blood clot form. Don’t disturb the clot by rinsing vigorously, drinking through straws, spitting, or touching the area with your tongue. Take prescribed or recommended pain medication before numbness wears off. Apply ice packs to your face for 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off during the first day to minimize swelling. Stick to soft, cool foods initially. Don’t smoke, as this dramatically increases complication risk. Sleep with your head elevated. After 24 hours, gently rinse with warm salt water after meals.     Dr.Sammy is amazing !! So kind and gentle – you can tell he truly cares and also loves what he does . He is very knowledgable , very good at explaining things . Very thorough .. weighs out pros and cons to help you make an informed decision . Does not push for unnecessary procedures . Looks at the whole picture first before jumping to decisions .. I wanted to switch to Minot dental partners from my prior dental provider because I’ve heard such great things about MDP and when I called to inquire about establishing care they were able to schedule me in the same week!! No months and months of waiting like other places. Dr. Sammy was so nice and so understanding about all of my concerns— great listener , very validating ! The staff are all so nice and you can tell they genuinely enjoy working there and working with eachother .. everyone makes sure your comfortable and feel welcome I also really really appreciate the fact they submit to your insurance first to determine what you may owe and then send you a bill at a later time as applicable rather than making you pay all upfront using an “estimated total” and submitting after you’ve paid Minot dental partners are amazing , I would 10/10 highly recommend .

    Dr Perkins great guy great attitude ..he seemed to be very honest …he appeared to be as happy for me as I am for myself to be able to correct the broken smile that I have carried for some time…it’s nice to know that what he can do for a person can excite him like it does for us the patient…I’m glad I was referred to him to do my work…also wanted to say that his staff seems to love what they do ..that can only be when u work for someone that appreciates you..

    I had a great experience here! Even with my anxiety about dentists it was by far my best dental appointment ever. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, the place itself is very clean and I was in and out pretty quickly. I would 100% recommend Minot Dental Partners to anyone!

    Super friendly and helpful people, all around! I had to be seen for some evaluations, and everyone was so friendly! They gave me exactly what I needed to use to help my issue, so it was extremely convenient as well! I was anxious going into a new dentist, but they were so nice! Thank you all! P.s. they were able to see me right away after a referral from my already amazing dentist, Dr.Monson, so overall just a great experience. So sweet 😊

    10/10 recommend Minot Dental Partners! My experience here was AMAZING, better than any other dental offices I’ve been to in the past.     The staff was wonderful to me. The girls were so sweet and the dentist made the whole process almost completely painless. I had to get 3 cavities fixed and he made sure the shots to numb my mouth were very easy to take. Prices were reasonable to me too. I will only come here for dental work! Thank you for making my life easier!

    I’ve been a patient for 6 years at Dental Minot Partners. I can’t say enough good words with how happy I am at each visit. Today I had my teeth cleaned with the hygienist Lindsey. She is an excellent hygienist and very thorough and gentle. I would recommend Dental Minot Partners without hesitation from the wonderful secretaries, dental staff and hygienist, and wonderful Dentists.     Minot Dental Partners is the best! Both of the providers are very knowledgeable and truly care for all patients! I would absolutely recommend this office to anyone in need of dental services! They even offer sedation options for those who have dental anxiety. They definitely have any other office beat in town with the service they offer and the care they provide!!

    I called morning with a massive cyst underlying two of my lower teeth. Originally I was provided a Tuesday appointment, but when I said that I was in severe pain and hadnt slept for a couple days, and asked if I could at least get a script for painkillers and or antibiotics, Sylvia asked me to hold on for a minute. A couple of minutes later she returned to say that one of the partners would come in to the practice to see me at 12:00. And the frank, no nonsense approach, some great surgery and clear options and post-op instructions just kept getting better and better! And you could tell that this was not a once-off event, the crew knew what they were expected to do, what their values are … This is not only good dentistry, but great patient-focus generated by even better leadership. Thank you. You have probably added at least five years to my life.

    Sarah, my dental hygienist did such a great job! Through the years, I’ve had many hygienists worked on my teeth and Sarah was my lasted one and she did magic! My teeth felt so clean without unnecessary pain. She worked on my ugly stains and managed to lift all of them off. I was super impressed and couldn’t be any happier. Sometimes I’d felt that the hygienist did not much and not worth the time and money. But not with Sarah. I’ll go back to her for sure.
