I want to thank everyone at MDP. Everyone their was in a great mood and happy to help anyone that walked in the door. Thank you to the dentist for understanding that I was in immense pain needed help on the spot, and for not lecturing me about needing to take better care of my teeth (trust me, I know). Thank you to the dental assistants for how kind and nice you were to me. And special thank you to the front desk ladies and whoever else that kept my wife company while I was being seen by the dentist. She was excited to tell me that you ladies conversed with her the whole time. And because of how great the experience was, I will be coming back to MDP for the rest of my dental needs.

Looking for a top notch and caring implant dentist and staff??? Look no further!! This is a little lengthy but read all the way through to see this example of a top-notch dentist and staff. I saw Dr Weisner for my first visit on Friday - I was looking to get his professional opinion on replacing a failed dental implant and to see if the area where I had the failed implant removed last summer was ready and could hold another implant as a bridge was out of the question for that area (my right canine tooth). After taking several different X-rays and doing a thorough evaluation, it was determined that area could hold another implant and that it would be a simple procedure and I would not need to be put out for it. I was pretty apprehensive about it all really (even though I was a hygienist in the dental field for 12 years but have been out for 10 years) - Dr Weisner reassured me that I would be fine. I was leaving town for the weekend but took him up on it and the implant was placed that day. I left town as planned and everything was going just great - still numb when I reached my destination and carried on with plans for the evening. To my surprise, I received a call from Dr Weisner to see how I was doing (a call from the doctor himself and from his own personal cell phone, to see how I was doing) - in my opinion that is top-notch patient care right there. He told me to hang on to his number and if I needed anything to call or text him directly. Before the numbness wore off, I took the ibuprofen he prescribed (he also prescribed a stronger pain med but said he did not foresee me having to use that). A few hours later, the throbbing in my face began (I could not take any more ibuprofen so I just tried to ignore it). When I went to lie down in bed for the night, the throbbing got worse and I had to pull out the stronger pain med and sent a text to Dr Weisner. I did not sleep well (partly due to where I was staying and sleeping on a cabin bunkbed but the other part due to my mouth). Received a text back from Dr Weisner in the early morning hours that said I should let him know how I was doing when I woke and that he felt horrible he had ruined my weekend by going ahead and doing the implant. I let him know he shouldn't feel bad because I was the one that had chosen to go through with it and that he couldn't have anticipated how my body was going to respond to this. Being I was out of town and carpooled with some other ladies to our destination, I was not able to pick up any other meds. Dr Weisner called a prescription into my local pharmacy and I had my husband pick it up so I could start it immediately when I got home on Sunday - meanwhile, I continued on the ibuprofen and the stronger med together every 6 hours and got through the weekend. I did take the new med (a steroid to try to calm down the inflammation) when I got home last night and continued with both pain meds. This whole time still in contact with Dr Weisner by text and he asked me to check in with him Monday morning after taking another dose of the steroids. I had to quit the strong pain med due to having to drive kids to school and go to work but continued on with the ibuprofen. Needless to say it was not a fun day so I checked in with Dr Weisner by text this afternoon and at 4:00 received a call from his wonderful staff asking if I could come to the office before 5:00. I finished up what I could at work and left to go see Dr Weisner. After taking X-rays and doing an exam, the problem was discovered and we had an answer to why I had been having so much pain all weekend.....the bone graft (that was placed in July by a different oral surgeon, one I would not see again, and I wish now I would have found Dr Weisner A LOT SOONER) was not functional and had fractured putting me in pain and leaving the implant at risk. So at 5:00 pm, Dr Weisner and his staff (who were all supposed to be leaving the office at 5) prepped for removing the implant he had just put in on Friday and removing the fractured bone graft pieces and then putting the implant back into my jaw in a different area (with more of my natural bone as the foundation but not the easiest to restore later on but really the only option at this point) and also putting cadaver bone graft material in around it not to hold the implant but to prevent the gum tissue from collapsing in. After everything was stitched up and he and his dental assistant made sure I was doing ok (today's procedures were pretty major and I was not feeling quite myself - all the previous days of pain had caught up to me and even though Dr Weisner and McKenzie did everything they could to make me as comfortable as possible, today’s procedure was a little nerve racking). As I was pretty jittery, I decided it would be best to have my husband come and pick me up so while I waited, Dr Weisner, McKenzie and Erin waited with me and provided me with some apple sauce and juice and made sure I was doing ok until my husband arrived. About 20 min after 6, I walked out of their office. Later on this evening, Dr Weisner did check in - it is really uncomfortable but he has explained why and given me everything I need to get as comfortable as I can. I would highly recommend Dr Weisner and his staff at Minot Dental Partners!!
